Jay Z might have 99 problems but a lawsuit definitely make it 100 and please don’t hit him yet J
New York record label TufAmerica Inc. is taking legal action against Jay Z for allegedly sampling 60′s hit “Hook & Sling Part 1″ without permission. According to New York Daily News, the record label filed a suit on Wednesday claiming that Jay Z illegally sampled Eddie Bo’s 1969 track in his 2009 hit, “Run This Town.”
The court case reportedly seeks proceeds from “Run This Town” and damages will be determined at trial.
“Hook & Sling Part 1″ is obviously a popular song because in September of 2012, TufAmerica Inc. took Kanye West to court for sampling the joint on two tracks from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
Earlier this week, Jay Z made headlines after presenting Roc Nations Sport’s Robinson Cano with a $33,900 watch for his birthday. The rapper is under investigation by the Major League Baseball Players Association.
